Farley Named to Head HB; Pfeffer, Isay Move Up
-- 8/3/98
In a series of promotions at Harcourt Brace, Dan Farley, v-p and publisher of the adult group, has been named president of the trade division, succeeding Rubin Pfeffer. Pfeffer will move up to a new corporate position in what is being described as a "major venture" for Harcourt that will be announced in the near future. A spokesperson for Harcourt declined to elaborate.
Farley joined Harcourt Brace in 1996 from Little, Brown, where he was publisher of the adult group. He was also publisher of trade paperbacks at S&S and an associate publisher at Viking Penguin.

In addition, Jane Isay, currently executive editor for adult books, has been named editor-in-chief of the adult division, directing both the adult hardcover and Harvest softcover editorial staffs in New York City and San Diego, Calif. Before joining Harcourt Brace, Isay was publisher of Grosset Books; a senior editor at G.P. Putnam's Sons; and an editorial director at Addison Wesley.
