Toobin Signed by Random for Lewinsky Book
-- 8/31/98
Jeffrey Toobin, bestselling author of a well-received book on the O.J. Simpson case, is to write a book for Random House on the impact the Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky affairs have had on President Clinton and the nation.
Ann Godoff, Random president and editor-in-chief, announcing the deal, said, "It is essential that this extraordinary chapter in our national life be examined by a journalist of the first rank." She noted that Toobin, who has worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, has "an insider's understanding of the law."

Toobin has covered the Jones and Lewinsky developments over the year at the New Yorker, where he is a staff writer, and on ABC News, where he is a legal analyst.

Toobin's book on the Simpson case, The Run of His Life: The People vs. O.J. Simpson (Random), was a national bestseller and a New York Times notable book of the year, and was the most favorably reviewed among the many books on the case.
