Gessner Named Word Publisher
-- 9/14/98
Lee Gessner has been named executive v-p, publisher and chief operating officer at Word Publishing. Gessner's appointment fills the position left vacant after the death of Charles "Kip" Jordon in October 1997.
Gessner will report to Sam Moore, CEO of parent company Thomas Nelson, and will be responsible for the acquisition and publishing processes of the company.

Gessner joined Word in 1989 as v-p of sales, after working at Zondervan publishing for six years. He was named senior v-p of sales and merchandising in 1995 and in 1997 was named deputy publisher at Word.
