Nominations are sought for the 14th biennial running of the prestigious PEN/Roger Klein Awards for a particularly notable editor, which will be the last to be given in the 20th century.

Candidates must be acquiring editors with at least seven years' experience, and sponsors must support their nominations with a list of 20 to 30 books on which the editor has worked plus letters from at least four or five authors attesting to the editor's skills. Nominations and supporting documents should be sent as a package to John Morrone, PEN American Center, 568 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10012.

Deadline for nominations and materials is December 15. The judges will meet toward the end of that month and the award, sponsored jointly by the Roger Klein Foundation (set up in memory of a talented young editor who died prematurely in 1969) and PEN, will be given early in 1999. Previous winners were Fran McCullough, Jim Landis, Michael DiCapua, Bob Loomis, J Kanon, Jonathan Galassi, Pat Strachan, Anne Freedgood, Ileene Smith, Bobbi Bristol, Ann Close, Faith Sale and Kate Medina.
