Nat'l Geographic, M-H Team UpMcGraw-Hill and the National Geographic Society have signed a five-year agreement through which the two companies will be jointly developing and marketing new science, social studies and geography textbooks for the elementary and secondary school market. The alliance builds on a 1995 agreement, under which Glenc /McGraw-Hill and the National Geographic Society created a multimedia geography curriculum for middle schools.

The new textbooks will be published by National Geographic Society and Glenc /McGraw-Hill for grades 6-12, and the McGraw-Hill School Division, National Geographic Society for grades K-6.

National Geographic will develop original curriculum materials, with original text, updated maps, photography and artwork to augment all McGraw-Hill's elhi social studies, science and geography textbook programs. McGraw-Hill's Educational Publishing Group will also market existing National Geographic educational products, including software, CD-ROMS, videos, maps and books, together with revised teacher's editions to schools. According to Ericka Markman, v-p of the National Geographic education division, there will be a minimum of four titles published in 1999; the number will increase the following year.
