Tower has selected two book industry veterans to head its newly restructured book division. Mark Evans, previously director of merchandising at Ingram, has joined Tower as director of book operations; and John Fraser, a district manager with Barnes & Noble, has been appointed director of book merchandising. Both men will report to Stan Goman, Tower's COO.

Evans will assume responsibility for book operations and will concentrate on the development of a proprietary operating system. Fraser will focus on working with field personnel to augment the merchandising and sales of book-related products. The appointments come several months after Heidi Cottler, long-time Tower v-p for book and magazine sales, left the company.

A spokesperson for Tower told PW the company plans to add more titles to its inventory. The company currently operates 10 bookstores and has book departments in many of its megastores.
