David Reuther has been named to succeed Marc Cheshire as president and publisher of North-South Books when Cheshire steps down from those posts some time in early 2000.

Reuther, formerly senior v-p of William Morrow and publisher of Morrow Junior Books, joined North-South earlier this year to launch a new children's book division (News, Mar. 29). He will continue to oversee the creation of the new division in addition to assuming his new duties as president and publisher.

Cheshire is leaving North-South to form his own design and packaging company. He will continue to edit and design books for North-South and will also remain a consultant on management issues.
