Both Ballantine and Bantam are enjoying a second week with two new hardcover novels. For Ballantine, it's Anne McCaffrey, the queen of the dragons, winging her way back onto the charts with Skies of Pern, her first appearance here since 1997, when Masterharper of Pern was on the charts. The e-book version is #1 at Palm Reader, outselling Stephen King's newest e-book, Dreamcatcher. Ballantine has 112,000 copies of the hardcover in print and is promoting the new bestseller with ads in Dragon Magazine and Realms of Fantasy, as well as on the Sci Fi Channel.

Bantam's Amanda Quick (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) already claims 15 consecutive national bestsellers and over 15 million copies of her books in print. Her newest bestseller, Slightly Shady, went on the charts after just a partial week on sale. Total copies in print: 155,700.
