It's not often there's a multibook deal for a biographer, whose creations are time-consuming, but that's what HarperCollins editor Tim Duggan has just concluded with British Tudor expert David Starkey. The North American rights deal, done with Michael Carlisle acting on behalf of Peter Robinson at Curtis Brown in London, calls for a major new book about Henry VIII, a separate book about his six unfortunate wives, and the second volume of Starkey's big study of Queen Elizabeth I, covering her reign. Starkey, a fellow of Cambridge University, was last represented here by the first volume of the Elizabeth bio, Elizabeth: The Struggle for the Throne.
