Gayle Feldman, a PW contributing editor, has been awarded a 2001—2002 National Arts Journalism Program research fellowship. The research fellowship, new this year, includes a stipend of $40,000 for the academic year, plus tuition.

Feldman's project will be a study of change and innovation in the book publishing industry; she will examine publishing and retailing activities in adult and children's trade, professional and educational, as well as the role of the Internet. "I'm looking forward to having the time to talk to a lot of people in the business," she told PW. She can be reached at 212-772-8265; or by e-mail at feldmang@aol.com.
