The story of the pilot of the U.S. spy plane downed in China after a collision with a Chinese jet has been sold twice over, for an adult and a YA title, to Broadway and Delacorte Books for Young Readers, respectively. The untitled books, focusing on pilot Shane Osborn, who helped save his crew by making a forced landing after the collision, will be published simultaneously in November and were bought, world rights, by Gerald Howard, Broadway editorial director, from William Morris chairman Norman Brokaw and senior v-p Mel Berger. Broadway's book will be coauthored with Osborn by Malcolm McConnell, a specialist in intelligence books; the Delacorte co-writer has not yet been named.
