Last fall, remainder house Daedalus Books in Columbia, Md., opened its first bookstore, a warehouse outlet. Now it has added its first distribution client, Könemann Publishing Group, which publishes low-price illustrated books. "We're doing all their American business," said Daedalus president Robin Moody. "We will handle billing and shipping and customer service." Orders should still be sent directly to Könemann, which will forward them to Daedalus for fulfillment. With the change in warehousing, Könemann will also change its discount structure to accommodate partial carton quantities at 40% discount nonreturnable. Carton quantities receive 50% discount, nonreturnable.

Voyageur Press in Stillwater, Minn., has also added a new client, 77-year-old Fountain Press, which is located in England and specializes in wildlife photography and how-to books on photography. "We've had some success with our own photography titles," said Voyageur's marketing director Dave Hohman, "so that was a natural fit." Voyageur, which publishes books on natural history, sports, Americana and pets, also distributes Tetra Press, CarTech, Specialty Press and Colin Baxter Photography.
