The Borders.com Web site relaunched on August 2 under the management of Amazon.com. Borders management threw in the online retailing towel in April in the wake of a disappointing Christmas and continuing weak numbers.

The home page for the co-branded site (www.Borders.com) resembles Amazon's current site. It features tabs for books, music, videos and one for Amazon itself. Transactions will be made through Amazon, which will handle fulfillment, shipping and customer service.

Content unique to Borders is located at www.borderstores.com, a separate site operated by Borders, which features a store locator that allows registered users to access local inventory and events. The Borders site also offers links to customer service, e-mail newsletters, job listings, corporate information, as well as to Inside Borders online magazine.

Amazon is expected to have access to the e-mail addresses of shoppers on the co-branded site, which may be used to market products Amazon sells that are not also available via Borders.com, such as electronics, tools and toys.
