One of the many Americans who became instant heroes on September 11 is Bernard Kerik, the 40th police commissioner of New York City. Now he's showing a different public face, having penned what author Wally Lamb calls "his against-the-odds success story," The Lost Son, A Life in Pursuit of Justice. The ReganBooks title, which lands on our #7 nonfiction spot following its November 12 pub date, has 275,000 copies in print after four trips to press. Publicity highlights include a November 14 Oprah appearance, a six-part feature ("Top Cop: The Bernard Kerik Story") last week on the Fox News Channel, Today, 60 Minutes, The Charlie Rose Show, CNN Morning News with Paula Zahn, Fresh Air, etc. In addition, Kerik's done several New York City bookstore signings and talks, all of which, reports the publisher, have been exceptionally well attended.
