Bestselling romance author Johanna Lindsey is switching to Pocket Books Press from Avon for her next two books, in a deal announced by Simon & Schuster Trade Publishing chief Carolyn Reidy. It was negotiated with agent Aaron Priest by Pocket Books publisher Judith Curr and Pocket publisher Louise Burke. It was a very big deal for world rights and reunites the author with several old publishing colleagues: Reidy headed Avon when Lindsey was published there, Pocket editorial director Maggie Crawford used to edit her at Avon and will now perform the same function at Pocket; and Curr published Lindsey at Transworld Australia, where she used to work. The deal was a hard/soft one; the first of the new books, untitled so far, will appear in 2003. Lindsey's current title, Home for the Holidays, is a bestseller, like the author's 37 previous books.
