Bestselling African-American author Pearl Cleage, who scored an Oprah Book Club choice with her What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day, published four years ago by Morrow, has signed with Anita Diggs, director of Ballantine's One World imprint, for her next two books. They're both untitled so far, and the first one is set for summer 2003. Diggs paid a "significant" sum to Detroit-based agent Denise Stinson for world hard/soft rights.
