This week, three new fiction hardcovers made it onto the charts, including two bestselling veterans from Putnam. W.E.B. Griffin's ninth entry in his Corps series, Under Fire, lands at #2 with more than 230,000 copies in print. The purr-fect crime caper from Lilian Jackson Braun, The Cat Who Went up the Creek, pounces on the #6 spot. It's Braun's 24th bestselling Cat Who mystery and lands with about 190,000 copies in print.

A medical caper, The Oath, from John Lescroart, lands in the #12 spot this week. Dutton's first printing of 85,000 had to be replenished before pub date; the publisher has gone back to press a fourth time, bringing the in-print figure to 110,000. One of Lescroart's many media appearances was on Court TV's Both Sides as an expert commentator.
