March is Small Press Month, and the Small Press Center and the Council for Literary Magazines and Presses will be hosting its own sort of madness: a month of activities to celebrate independent literary publishing.

SPC (www.smallpress.org) will hold its centerpiece event, the Small Press Book Fair, a gathering of more than 200 independent book and magazine publishers, at the organization's midtown Manhattan headquarters March 23 and 24. Admission is free. For more information, call (212) 764-7021.

Also this month, the Council for Literary Magazines and Presses (www.clmp.org) is launching a series of panels called "Contents Under Press: Debates and Trends in Independent Literary Publishing." The first event, "Invisible Ink: The Secret World of Indie Lit Revealed!," will take place March 20 at the New York Public Library. The panel will feature Dan Simon of Seven Stories Press, Julie Koo of Kaya Books and Jonathan Yardley of the Washington Post. For more information, call (212) 741-9110.
