Twenty-eight-year-old The Booksource in St. Louis, Mo., won this year's Mississippi Valley Family Business of the Year Award, which was presented by the Family Business Forum of Southern Illinois University to the best family business in Illinois and Missouri. Since then the company has done some reshuffling to make way for the younger generation. Sandy Jaffe has been promoted to CEO, while his son Neil Jaffe was named president and son Gary Jaffe was named COO. Daughter Donna Jaffe has been named general manager of Peaceable Kingdom Press, The Booksource's specialty publishing company in Berkeley, Calif. Not that The Booksource is completely family-centric. It went outside to find its new national sales manager, C.J. Snow.
