A book describing a desperately poor Irish childhood that ended in power and wealth for millionaire Bill Cullen has been a major bestseller in Ireland, has just made a six-figure (in pounds) sale in London and is now on offer here. In It's a Long Way from Penny Apples, Cullen, who now heads the multimillion-dollar Glencullen Group in Ireland, tells how he began selling on the street at the age of six to support his family. The book, published last December by Mercier Press in Ireland, went on to sell 70,000 copies there, knocking Harry Potter from the top spot. Danny Baror of Baror International took over its international sales, made a big deal at auction with Hodder in the U.K., and has interested buyers in Germany and Japan. Agent Richard Curtis is handling North American rights.
