Investigative reporter Suzanne O'Malley, who has done a great deal of peering into the case of Andrea Yates, convicted in Texas of the drowning of her five children, has signed to do a book on the case for Simon & Schuster and Pocket Books, hard/soft. She discovered and publicized false information used during Yates's trial that has inspired an appeal, still pending, and will examine the various mental health and religious issues surrounding the case. The deal, for North American and first serial rights, was signed with Tina Bennett and Mort Janklow at Janklow & Nesbit, and editorial director Alice Mayhew will edit the book for publication next year.
