June Is for Junie
Publishing Institute Established

To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Dutton Children's Books has created the Ann Durell Fiction Contest, named for the former Dutton publisher. The grand prize is a book contract with a $7,000 advance and $1,000 cash, to be awarded to the best original unpublished novel for readers 8—14. One honorable mention will also be given, with a $500 cash prize.

Manuscript submissions must be postmarked by Aug. 31 and received by Sept. 15, and the results will be announced in December. Dutton editors will judge the contest. For more information and submission instructions, write to Ann Durell Fiction Contest Coordinator, Dutton Children's Books, 345 Hudson St., New York, NY 10014.
