Pat Strachan has joined Little, Brown as senior editor. She will report to Michael Pietsch, senior v-p and publisher, and will acquire both fiction and nonfiction. Strachan, who was most recently at Houghton Mifflin, began her career at Farrar, Straus & Giroux and was also an editor at Harcourt Brace. In addition, she served as fiction editor at the New Yorker from 1988 through 1991. Among the authors she has worked with are Tom Wolfe, John McPhee, Seamus Heaney, Harold Bloom, Wendy Lesser and Edna O'Brien. Pietsch called Strachan "one of the most respected editors in publishing."
