Proving once again that he is the ultimate Washington insider, Bob Woodward's latest, Bush at War, climbs right to #1 during its launch week. According to Simon & Schuster, there are about 630,000 copies in print after two trips to press. While most of the book tackles the president's first 18 months in office, "the timing is eerie," notes the publisher, "as the country prepares for a possible war with Iraq and continues the war on terror." The timing also makes Woodward a media darling. So far: a four-part serial in the Washington Post, a lengthy interview with Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes, appearances on Today, NBC Nightly News, Fresh Air, Charlie Rose, Meet the Press, CNN, Fox News—and more to come.
