The APA is finalizing plans for two winter conferences New York City that focus on hiring talent and purchasing audiobook rights.

The second annual Audiobook Rights Conference will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2003, 9 a.m.—5 p.m., at the Park Central Hotel on W. 56th St. Attendance is limited to 35 publishers and 35 companies with audiobook rights to sell. Companies must pay a registration fee; APA members receive a discount. Meals will be provided and lodging is available at an APA rate. On Thursday, February 20, 2003, aspiring audiobook narrators/performers, editors, abridgers and producers will get a chance to strut their stuff in front of audiobook publishers and producers at the fourth annual AudioBook Job Market (aka JAM). JAM will be held from 8:30 a.m.—4:30 p.m. There is no fee for audio publishers and hiring producers to attend; talent must pay an application fee and a participation fee (50 talent spaces are available).
