This week's sole newcomer on our hardcover fiction list, The Bone Vault, is the fifth mystery novel by ex-Manhattan assistant D.A.—and current Nero Wolfe Award—winner—Linda Fairstein, whose The Deadhouse had a run on PW's list last year. Published by Scribner on January 21 (copies in print: 85,000), the book has been well reviewed in Vogue, Glamour and Cosmopolitan (where Fairstein is currently a columnist). Last week, the author dropped in on Today, Larry King Live and WFAN's Imus; tour stops have included New York City, Denver, L.A., San Francisco, Boston, Miami and New Orleans. Perhaps the best trip of all, noted Scribner publicity director Pat Eisemann, will be the recent return to press for an additional 5,000 copies.
