We are talking about No Second Chance by Harlan Coben, who leads the list of hardcover newcomers this week. Excellent reviews and lots of endorsements from booksellers helped launch the Dutton book ("A guaranteed all-night page-turner," said Diane Garrett of Diane's Books in Greenwich, Conn. "I hate when I get to the end, as I want more!" said Tamara Tomac at the Island Bookstore in Mackinac Island, Mich.) It was the first ever International Book-of-the-Month selection, and the author appeared on the Today Show on April 28, the on-sale date. Coben also managed to get out on the road, visiting 16 bookstores—no small feat, since he has four children under the age of nine and his wife, Ann, is the pediatrician for Covenant House in Newark, N.J. First printing for No Second Chance was 170,000; after four trips to press, the total in print is 207,000.
