The second new fiction hardcover, Lucia, Lucia by Adriana Trigiani (see Interview, p. 72), has been hovering right below PW's top 15 for several weeks. The author recently completed a popular 11-city tour (more than 300 fans showed at a Richmond, Va., Barnes & Noble and she spent five hours greeting fans at Cantos Booksellers in Roanoke). Random House launched the book with 77,000 copies in print and it now is up to 114,000 after five trips to press. Trigiani enjoyed major success with her Big Stone Gap trilogy, which has more than one million copies in print. She has sold movie right to Lucia and is busy writing and directing the movie version of Big Stone Gap. The author has built her following over the last four years by connecting with booksellers, readers and reading clubs. She regularly leads discussions via speakerphone with book clubs from her home in New York City.
