The Rowman and Littlefield Publishing Group has made its third acquisition this year with the purchase of the assets of Collegiate Press. Based in San Diego, Collegiate publishes introductory college textbooks in the humanities and social sciences and has a list of 16 titles.

The Collegiate list "has sold very well without traditional marketing and sales efforts," said R&L president Jed Lyons, adding that titles will benefit from R&L's marketing program. The Collegiate list will be integrated into R&L Publishers, and as titles are reprinted they will come out under the R&L imprint. Among its topselling works are The Sociological Outlook and A Turbulent Voyage: Readings in African American Studies. Company founders and textbook authors John Thill and Courtland Bovee will not join R&L.
