Beau Friedlander, who's better known as the publisher of the feisty Context Books than as an author, has penned a first novel, and it was bought last week by Molly Stern at Viking. It's called Anger House and is a literary apocalyptic thriller about a near future when global warming has caused widespread floods and escalating temperatures; a kind of eco-terrorist who specializes in torture has kidnapped the daughter of the vice president in an effort to get him to switch his deadly environmental position. Stern bought North American rights from agent Nina Collins at Collins/McCormick and will publish in winter 2005.
