Elizabeth Law, associate publisher at Viking Children's Books, is moving to Simon & Schuster as v-p, associate publisher of the S&S Books for Young Readers imprint, effective October 27. She will report to Brenda Bowen, publisher of hardcover books at S&S Children's Publishing.

The position has been vacant for more than a year, after Steve Geck left to join HarperCollins. Over at Random House, the Knopf & Crown Books for Young Readers imprint has promoted several employees, including Nancy Hinkel, who moves from senior editor to publishing director, overseeing strategic planning and day-to-day operations. The company had been searching for a new publishing director for the imprints since Joan Slattery, who continues to work for the division, stepped down late last fall.

Nancy Siscoe, executive editor, has been named associate publishing director; Michelle Frey has been promoted to senior editor from editor; and Erin Clarke moves up to editor from associate editor.
