The author of the bestselling historical true crime tale (and NBA nominee) The Devil in the White City has signed again with Crown for another book that combines crime and the portrait of a period. Erik Larson's new book is tentatively titled Thunderstruck: A Story of Love, Murder and Invention in the Edwardian Age; it combines the stories of the infamous English murderer Dr. Hawley Crippen and wireless inventor Guglielmo Marconi, whose new technology helped to bring the doctor to justice. The author's longtime editor Betty Prashker joined with Crown publisher Steve Ross to buy North American rights from agent David Black. No pub date as yet.
