The latest statistics from the Open eBook Forum show solid gains in e-books sales in this year's third quarter. According to figures supplied by 30 e-book publishers and retailers, sales increased 37%, to $2.6 million, while unit sales rose 64% in the period, to 377,095. For the nine-month period, sales were up 32%, to $7.5 million, while unit sales increased 48%, to just over 1 million. The gains were attributed to an increase in title output—2,159 e-books were released from January through September, up from 1,241 in the comparable period last year—as well as to a decline in prices.
