Hyperion is enjoying the phenomenal sales for Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven. The first printing was 775,000 and the house went back for 65,000 more before the book even landed in the stores. Numbers like that are no surprise, considering that Albom's first book, Tuesdays with Morrie, has a U.S. total of about six million hardcovers and 500,000 trade paperbacks. But it took Morrie four years to reach that milestone, while The Five People reached 2.8 million copies in print in less than three months. For the week ending December 13, Albom's book sold more than 106,500 copies combined at Barnes & Noble, Borders and Waldenbooks.
