The 10 longest-running religion hardcovers (see chart on p. 5), as they appeared on PW's monthly lists from 1999 to 2003, are mostly nonfiction. All have been on the charts for at least 14 months, five of them for more than two years. Tenure is even more impressive on the paperback side. In the course of 2003, 28 different books appeared on our religion charts, seven of them for more than one year. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, still on the monthly chart (see p. 22), has had a run of 96 months and Left Behind, the first book in the bestselling apocalypse series, clocked 84 months on the paperback religion list. Two more that have racked up spectacular monthly runs are The Power of a Praying Wife (54) and The Five Languages of Love (50).
