Bad Business is book #31 in Robert B. Parker's beloved Spenser series (his total oeuvre numbers more than 40). His first Spenser, The Godwulf Manuscript, was published 30 years ago, and the author has been a regular on the bestseller charts for just about all that time. Putnam reports 162,700 copies in print after two trips to press and noted that after successful bookstore events in New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Parker is on his way to be the guest of honor at the Sleuthfest convention in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. His fans are looking forward to his next book, a stand-alone period novel called Double Play, about Jackie Robinson and his bodyguard during the player's first season with the Dodgers.
