A new study of the personal and political lives of Bill and Hillary Clinton has just been bought by new Random editor-in-chief Jonathan Karp. It's by Sally Bedell Smith, whose most recent foray into presidential affairs was Grace and Power, her portrait of the Kennedy White House. Smith is a Vanity Fair contributing editor who promises to mine her extensive sources for a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the controversial couple who used to occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Karp bought world rights from Amanda Urban at ICM and will publish the untitled book three years from now—just in time, he suggests, for a presidential bid by Hillary.
