In June 2003, when Hillary Clinton's Living History hit the stores, Barnes & Noble announced record first-day sales for a nonfiction hardcover title; a year later, it made the same claim for Bill Clinton's My Life. Hillary's combined first-week sales at the three national chains—B&N, Borders and Waldenbooks—was 203,568. Bill's was about 38% higher: 281,682. Bill's cumulative sales for the first four weeks is still ahead; his book now leads Hillary's by about 16%. But Hillary outsold Bill in weeks 2, 3 and 4. If Bill's sales don't perk up, Hillary may remain the bestselling Clinton.
