A book creating a lot of buzz is French Women Don't Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure by Mireille Guiliano from Knopf. First printing was 100,000 copies, and now, three weeks after publication date (December 28) and with seven trips to press, copies in print have swelled to a hefty 315,000. Guiliano, CEO of Clicquot (as in Veuve Clicquot, the French Champagne house), offers a guide to the slim life based on the philosophy that being thin and happy depends not on deprivation, but on appreciating and balancing pleasures. The book has benefited from an arsenal of media including Today, The View and Dateline. Howard Stern and Robin Givens also talked up the book on Stern's radio show. Media is scheduled for the book through April and the author is finishing an 11-city tour.
