Swift attempts to get the just-gone king of late-night TV between book covers were inevitable, and Random seems to be first up with a major effort. It's called Carson the Magnificent, and author Bill Zehme, an award-winning journalist, biographer and co-author, was the last to interview Carson, for a 2002 Esquire cover story, and to quote his last public words. Editor-in-chief Jon Karp bought world rights from Chris Calhoun at Sterling Lord Literistic and will publish in November. Zehme will offer new interviews with Carson friends, associates and colleagues, and promises some revelations about his subject.
