Novelist Elinor Lipman was published by editor Jane Rosenman at Washington Square Press a decade ago and, now that Rosenman is executive editor at Houghton Mifflin, she has reunited them: she's bought Lipman's next two novels, spiriting her away from Random. First of the new books is an untitled story of a formerly married couple who both end up as neighboring dorm supervisors at a women's college. It will be Lipman's eighth novel, all sprightly social comedies, with two of them having been optioned for the movies by interested stars: The Ladies Man by Tom Hanks; Then She Found Me by Helen Hunt. The HM deal, North American rights, was signed with Suzanne Gluck at William Morris.
