Mabe to Head STM



Michael A. Mabe has been tapped to be CEO of the London-based International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (a global organization with more than 100 members). Mabe is replacing Dr. Pieter S.H. Bloman, who's stepping down after two years.

Geramian to Bookspan

Sue R.E. Geramian has been appointed to the newly created position of senior v-p of corporate communications at Bookspan. Geramian, who was most recently a corporate communications consultant for a number of different companies, will report directly to CEO Markus Wilhelm.

Von Bargen, Carroll Join S&S

Mark Von Bargen and David Carroll have joined the sales team at Simon & Schuster. Von Bargen has taken over as director of national accounts for the house's Children's Group; most recently he was director of merchandising for children's books at Baker & Taylor. Carroll has joined as director, DSRM for adult mass merchants; he was most recently v-p of sales at Media Bay's Radio Spirits division.

Cash Up at Holiday House

Mary Cash has been promoted from executive editor to v-p, executive editor at Holiday House.

Consortium Gets Perkins

David Perkins has been named academic marketing director at Consortium. Perkins comes to the position after being the marketing director for the Denver-based literary publication BloomsburyReview.

Magram Up At Houghton

Linda Magram has been promoted from director of marketing for Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, Walter Lorraine Books and Graphia to the newly created position of v-p, director of marketing, Houghton Mifflin Children's Book Group.

Promos at Perseus

Ellen Garrison has been bumped up from assistant editor to associate editor for the following Perseus imprints: Basic Books, Basic Civitas and Counterpoint. Jason Brantley has been promoted from publicist to senior publicist, handling those same imprints.

Myrick to North-South

Ellen Myrick has been named marketing and publicity director at North-South Books. Myrick was most recently at Ingram as senior marketing manager of its Spring Arbor division.

Promos at Penguin

Linda Bay has been promoted from v-p, order fulfillment, to senior v-p of distribution at Penguin Group. James C. Clarke is up from v-p, corporate accounting and administration, to v-p, order fulfillment.

NBN Nabs Kramer

Jeanne Kramer has joined National Book Network as senior director of marketing. Kramer arrives from M. Evans, where she was director of sales/marketing.

Dunn to Downtown

Dinah Dunn has been named executive editor at Downtown Books; she arrives from Byron Preiss Visual Publications.
