Brower Up at WSA

Michelle Brower has been promoted from associate agent to agent at Wendy Sherman Associates. Brower joined WSA in 2004.

Friedman to LevelFiveMedia

Ethan Friedman is leaving the editorial side for agenting; he has been named an agent at LevelFiveMedia. Friedman was senior editor at Collins, where he worked with authors Will Shortz, Donald Trump and Rick Pitino. At LevelFiveMedia Friedman will focus on business, sports, current affairs, Judaica, self-help and general nonfiction. He can be reached at ethanjfriedman@gmail.com.

Freeman to Granta

Longtime freelance book critic and former president of the NBCC John Freeman has been named American editor of Granta magazine. Freeman will remain in New York and collaborate with the magazine’s staff in London, creating author events and building a connection to Granta’s North American readership. Freeman will report to editor Alex Clark.

Finan to Chair Media Coalition

Chris Finan, president of American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, has been elected to serve as the 2009 chair of Media Coalition, the trade association dedicated to defending the First Amendment rights of publishers, booksellers and librarians; recording, motion picture and video game producers; and recording, video and video game retailers in the U.S. Finan succeeds Sean Bersell, v-p, public affairs, of the Entertainment Merchants Association.
