Many of the trends evident in the first quarter of 2009 carried into April, according to monthly estimates from the AAP. With the exception of the juvenile segments, the trade category had another down month in April, while e-book sales soared again, jumping by more than 228%. For the first four months of the year, e-book sales from the 13 reporting publishers were up 154.8%, to $37.8 million. April is a small month for the higher education segment, with the huge jump in monthly sales amounting to only $37.8 million in sales. The decline in elhi sales is due mainly to a 30% drop in basal sales, while supplementary sales were down 3.5% In April.
