Vintage Contemporaries' cover designs tend to stay with readers: think The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time's red and black minimalism; Empire Falls's vintage movie poster feel; Motherless Brooklyn's black and white grittiness. As the imprint celebrates its 25th anniversary this fall, it is unveiling a spate of new covers for some of its most iconic books by renowned book designer John Gall. The first of the redesigned books went on sale last week, and more are coming out over the next few months, including American Psycho, Less Than Zero (which celebrates its own 25th anniversary this fall), Cathedral and What We Talk About When We Talk About Love. Many of the new covers delve further into the original artwork to produce images that are fresh but familiar.
