Preston Joins Gardners
Bill Preston, former senior v-p, retail and international sales, at Baker & Taylor, has joined U.K. wholesaler Gardners as v-p, North American business development.
Obiturary: Kate Duffy, 56
Romance editor Kate Duffy died last week at 56. Duffy, who was born in Rochester, N.Y., and studied at Oxford, worked with such authors as Jude Deveraux, Julie Garwood, Lori Foster, Heather Graham, Judith McNaught, Mary Janice Davidson, Jacqueline Frank and Mary Jo Putney. Over the years she received a number of honors from the RWA and worked for various publishers including Simon & Schuster, Harlequin and Kensington, where she was editorial director.
