Barton in Talks Over ‘Jefferson Lies’

David Barton, author of The Jefferson Lies, pulled from shelves by Thomas Nelson over factual inaccuracies, is in talks to republish the book with Mercury Ink, Glenn Beck's publishing arm. Barton said he will “rephrase” some things in the new edition to avoid “potential confusion.”

B&N Lowers Price of Nook Devices

Barnes & Noble lowered the price of its 7-inch 8GB Nook Tablet from $199 to $179 and its 16GB Nook Tablet from $249 to $199; it also dropped the price of the Nook Color from $169 to $149.

Judge Rebukes Publishers in GSU Case

In a sharp rebuke to publishers in the Georgia State Univ. e-reserve case, Judge Orinda Evans rejected the plaintiff publishers’ proposal for relief, ordering the publishers to pay the defendants’ attorneys’ costs, in effect legitimizing e-reserves as a “comfortable safe harbor for Fair Use.”

Apple Brief Opposes DoJ Settlement

Apple filed a brief in opposition to the proposed settlement in the Department of Justice e-book price fixing case, arguing that it stands to be punished though it never “participated in, encouraged, or sought to benefit from collusion.”
