My Name Is Prince: 25 Inspired Years—1991 to 2016

St. Nicholas chronicles the life and intimate moments of one of rock’s most enigmatic artists with this collection of stunning, lavish photographs. When St. Nicholas and Prince collaborated on their 2008 book, 21 Nights, they discussed putting together a retrospective of photographs spanning their 20-plus years of working together. Now, three years after Prince’s death, St. Nicholas brings to life the many faces and facets of the late artist. St. Nicholas captures Prince’s arresting beauty in a number of disarming photos from 1991 in which Prince stares directly into the camera or creates an intimacy even in his disarming glance away. Later photos reveal private and public moments in Los Angeles, on Prince’s tour in Japan (including photos of him on a train to Kyoto), at rehearsals in New York City and Paisley Park, in Prague in 2007, and at Coachella in 2008. Photos from rehearsals capture Prince’s intensity, while a section devoted to Prince and his wife Mayte offer insight into the couple’s attraction to each other (a few photos are of the two face-to-face, with “Slave” written on Prince’s cheek).
