I'm Telling!: Kids Talk about Brothers and Sisters
. Little Brown and Company, $12.45 (137pp) ISBN 978-0-316-05185-9
The producers of National Public Radio show ""Hole in the Sock'' have put together taped observations from preteens about family life and presented it with all its natural humor, pathos and idiosyncratic wisdom. Grouped by chapters that cover such issues as family position, jealousies, competition, sharing rooms and good times, the book also ventures into special spheres of being an only child or part of a stepfamily. With next-to-no changes by the compilers, the material is endowed with a childlike exuberance, with normal kids who trick their sibs with fibs, bribe them and otherwise do very normal brother-sister things. On balance, being part of a family is very enjoyable, as is this book. Ages 8-12. (April)
