Color Yr Hair Pro Pa
Vincent Nardi. Perigee Books, $10.95 (143pp) ISBN 978-0-399-51187-5
The authors, brothers who operate the Nardi House of Beauty in New York, urge readers to experiment with hair coloring, which, they claim, has many benefitsadding highlights to long hair gives it more body and thickness, and color gives straight hair more bounce. The Nardis then describe three degrees of hair color change (subtle, adventurous, flamboyant) and suggest how hair color can be used to complement various facial shapes. There are chapters devoted to coloring gray hair, to the special concerns of men and to avant-garde hair coloring techniques. Do-it-yourselfers will find the book's final chapters the most valuable. Here the authors offer a rundown of the types of hair coloring products available and provide detailed instructions for using each at home. Those not quite ready to experiment on themselves can use this as an idea book; more than 60 photos and line drawings illustrate the range of options the authors discuss. (February)
